On 2 June 2026, composer Marcelo Chacur Politano successfully defended his Doctor of Philosophy (Musicology) dissertation at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

His dissertation, Composing and Analysing with Idiomatic and Idiosyncratic Resources in a Hybrid Intercultural Musical Environment, is available here.

The dissertation was supervised by Professor Kerri Kotta, and the opponent was Dr. Wei-Ya Lin (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna).
