Dr Kärt Ojavee, Professor at the Estonian Academy of Arts, has been elected to the Artistic Research Working Group of ELIA – the European League of Institutes of the Arts.
The working group curates the ELIA Artistic Research Community Hub, an international platform dedicated to advancing artistic research, fostering professional exchange, and strengthening collaboration across European higher arts education institutions. Its mission includes articulating and advocating the value of artistic research, improving the conditions that support research, identifying key challenges in the field, and facilitating meaningful collaboration between institutions and researchers.
According to Ojavee, she decided to join the working group in order to bring back to the Estonian Academy of Arts new knowledge and perspectives on how artistic research is approached at other universities, while also sharing EKA's own practices within the international network.
EKA Vice Rector for Research Linda Kaljundi describes Ojavee's election as an important recognition of both her individual achievements and the international visibility of artistic research at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
The working group includes representatives from several European universities that are already key partners of EKA through active student and staff exchanges as well as collaborative projects. Participation in the ELIA Artistic Research Working Group will create new opportunities to strengthen cooperation within the ELIA network, particularly in the fields of research and development.
The newly appointed ELIA Artistic Research Working Group will begin its work in the spring, with its first meeting taking place in April in Amsterdam.
