Docuseries on Estonian Artistic Researchers to Premiere on the 1st of Feburary, 2024
Join us on Thursday, 1 February, at 5:30 pm for the premiere of Loov teadus, a series of short films showcasing Estonian artistic researchers. The screening will take place at the SuperNova Cinema, Tallinn University's Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM) (Narva mnt 27, 4th floor, room N-406).
Through a series of portrait films, audiences are introduced to six distinctive Estonian artistic researchers and their diverse practices, united by a shared commitment to combining creative practice with research.
The films feature the artistic research projects of Kärt Ojavee, Jaanus Samma, Liina Keevallik, Elen Lotman, Piret Jaaks, and Juhan Uppin.
In an increasingly complex society, it is essential to recognise the value of the humanities, the social sciences, and artistic research in generating new knowledge and new ways of understanding the world. With the portrait film series "Loov teadus", the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA), the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA), and Tallinn University's Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM)—Estonia's leading centres for artistic research—continue their mission of developing and promoting the value of artistic research methods in addressing the challenges facing society.
