EMTA, EKA and BFM invite you to the Artistic Research Café!

On Tuesday, 28 April 2026 at 6:00 pm, join us at the Apollo Plaza Bookstore for an evening discussion where artistic researchers from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA), the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA), and Tallinn University's Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM) offer insights into their creative practice and research while exploring the nature, methods, and outcomes of artistic research.

This edition of the Artistic Research Café is dedicated to the theme "Artistic Research: Reality and Fiction."

Creative processes rely on imagination—the ability to envision and create new ideas and worlds. Research, including artistic research, is grounded in argumentation, evidence, and verifiability. How can artistic research reconcile factual inquiry with imagination and fiction, which deliberately present things in ways they are not? Through the work and perspectives of several artistic researchers, this discussion explores the relationship between reality and fiction in artistic research.

The discussion will be held in English.
